Best time to visit

High season:
October to March Rejuvenation programmes: May to September

Cuisine:
All restaurants in Kerala offering variety of cuisines including continental, Chinese, Indian and authentic Kerala fare.

Money Exchange:
All hotels have money changing facilities, there are also plenty of Banks, private money changing agencies available in all major cities and towns. US dollars, British Pounds, Euro are common foreign currencies that are exchanged.

Drinking Water:
It is better to drink bottled drinking water and it is not advisable to drink water from slow moving streams, lakes or dams. Mineral water is available in sealed bottles.

Temple codes:
Footwear inside the temple and entry into the sanctum sanctorum is banned in all the temples. Some temples do not permit entry to non-Hindus, while some do. Shirts & pants for men are banned from some temples and allowed in some others. Where they are banned, men have to be in dhoti and women, in saris, half-saris or long skirts.

Nudity:
Nudity is not allowed in any Kerala beach.

Drugs:
Heavy punishments including imprisonment are imposed for possession of narcotic drugs.

Credit cards:
All major hotels, restaurants and shopping centre accept all major credit cards.

Electricity:
230-240V, 50 HZ

Valuables:
All valuables and important papers (jewelry, passports, return tickets, etc) should be kept in your hotel's safe deposit box. Never leave them unattended in your room. Avoid carrying large sums of cash on your person.

Women traveler:
Don't wear anything that attracts glances or invites cat calls. short skirts, tight pants or blouses can make you stand out in the crowd. Dress sober - loose and long clothes that neither define body shape nor expose it. Keep your hotel room locked while you are inside. Chain locking your hotel room door is a smart precaution. Avoid traveling in the night

Precautions:
If you believe in taking precautions, take all the vaccinations one needs, to avoid malaria and dengue, carry mosquito repellents, nets and sprays. Eating of salads, juices, fried food from street side vendor is not advisable. If you fall ill, see the doctor & keep cool
